Mission Statement
The mission of the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority is to prevent and reduce motor vehicle thefts in the State of Washington.
Members
There are ten members of the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority. All members are appointed by the Governor to staggered terms. Terms are generally four years with the exception of the first Authority. To establish the staggered appointments, five of the first appointees will serve two-year terms.
The Authority consists of the following members:
- The Executive Director of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs;
- The Chief of the Washington State Patrol;
- Two police chiefs;
- Two sheriffs;
- One prosecuting attorney;
- A representative from the insurance industry;
- A representative from the automobile industry;
- and One member of the general public.
